Oneshot - Rated T - Troy's POV - Songfic « Result #1 on Aug 22, 2008, 10:18pm »
"I still can't believe we got the lead roles in the school play, Troy." Gabriella said as we climbed the stairs to her bedroom.
"Yeah, I know. Romeo and Juliet. It's pretty major." I replied back, a bit nervously. We arrived to her room and put our books down.
"I just hope Sharpay won't be too upset." she laughed.
"Yeah." I agreed. We faced eachother.
"Well...um...since we've already went over our lines a few times, I think we should start with the kissing scene. It has to look real." Gabi suggested.
"Ok." I nodded, knowing this was coming. She layed on her bed, like Juliet, and I leaned over her. I read off my lines that came right before the kiss, then lowered my face to hers.
Got a funny feeling
I took a deep breath, then gently pressed my lips to her soft, glossy ones.
Moment that your lips touched mine
I felt a shock go through my whole body, goosebumps everywhere, tingling up and down my spine, especially when she started to kiss me back.
Something shot right through me My heart skipped a beat in time There's a different feel about you tonight
All of a sudden, I felt my tongue slip into her mouth, and hers into mine.
It's got me thinking lots of crazy things I even think I saw a flash of light Felt like electricity
Our lips moved together perfectly, and she wrapped her arms around my neck.
You shouldn't kiss me like this
Could this really be happening? The girl I've had a crush on for years, kissing me...? Please, dear God, don't let me be dreaming.

When breathing became an issue, I pulled away from her and looked into her beautiful chocolate brown eyes. "Wow." I whispered, and Gabriella smiled.
"I think we got a little carried away with that, Troy." she giggled.
"Yeah." I replied, my voice shakey.
We'll get lost on this dance floor, spinning around
"So...um...let's move on to where we die." she then suggested.
"Ok, sure." I nodded my head. We picked up our script books and acted out the rest of the scene.

The next day at school, during free period, Gabs and I went to the auditorium to practice some more.

It was fun that day, especially sine a few of our friends came in to watch us. Chad, Taylor, Sharpay, Zeke, Jason, Kelsi, Martha, and Ryan were all there.

I was nervous because I knew that they all knew that I had a huge crush on Gabriella, but I knew that Gabriella didn't feel the same way, unfortunately. And, of course, whenever she wasn't around, Sharpay and the other girls would tell me how much of a cute couple we'd make, like that would make Gabi like me more than as a friend.

And just my luck, today's 'performance' would make them think that even more. Gabi had planned on practicing the kissing scene again today. We were coming up on it. just a few more lines.
When you kiss me like this
Finally, as she layed there on the set bed, I leaned in towards her and placed my lips over hers. Ok, I told myself, don't get carried.
I think you mean it like that
I pulled away from her, breathless, then finished the scene, where we both die.
If you do
That's where we ended it, and, as we stood up, our friends began to applaud loudly. "I'm gonna go get some water, guys. Wait for me?" Gabriella remarked as she walked away. I watched her go, then turned back to Sharpay, Kelsi, Taylor, and Martha. (The guys left to head to the gym after our performance.)
"Oh my gosh, Troy!" Kelsi exclaimed.
"That was adorable." said Martha.
"It was awesome." Taylor added.
"She was SO itching to put her arms around your neck, Troy Bolton!" Sharpay exclaimed excitedly. I blushed.
"Um...how would you know that?" I asked her quizzically.
"Well, duh, it was only obvious! Her arms kept moving upwards slightly." she told me matter-of-factly, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. I just sighed, shook my head, then walked away from them, only wishing what she said was true.
Baby kiss me again
All I heard before I left was Sharpay shouting after me, "You should ask her out, Troy!" I shut my eyes momentarily. I wish I could, but I knew I couldn't. I knew she'd turn me down in a heartbeat.
Everybody swears we make the perfect pair
We're just friends, and that's as much as she'll ever want us to be. And the only reason we've even been kissing a lot lately is because of the play. And that's it.
But dancing is far as it goes

Opening night. It was finally here. At last. I was so nervous. Gabi and I were in the wings, going over our lines. Just a few more hours until we went on. Our first time in front of an actual audience that wasn't just our friends.

Ok. W were about to go on. Just a few moments, then the stage directer would call for places. Most of us gathered into a circle and said a prayer. We broke apart, about to go on. I looked at Gabriella, who was smiling at me. I couldn't stop myself from doing it. I leaned towards her and kissed her, right on the lips, then said, "Break a leg, Gabs." Then I walked away, shocked at myself.
I just wanted you to know
The whole play was a haze, all up until the part where we kiss and die. That's the only part I ever remembered doing whenever we practiced or whatever.

I really hoped this kiss looked real and right and didn't last too long. Ms. Darbus told us we kissed for too long. It was embarassing. With those, and all other, thoughts leaving my head, I planted my lips upon hers, pouring all my emotions into that one kiss.
You shouldn't kiss me like this
I lifted my lips from hers, said my lines, then drank the 'poison', while my Juliet woke up. I fell down on the bed, Gabi pecked my lips, said her lines, then her character stabbed herself and died, as well. The curtains closed and we got up. Gabriella and I looked at eachother, and she smiled sweetly and seductively at me. I was completely shocked by that look.

We took our bows as the people in the audience applauded for us, Gabriella and I getting the most applause.

And that's basically how the other three shows went. After the final show on Sunday night, the cast and crew threw a party.

At the party, I was just hanging out and relaxing. Until, that is, Sharpay made a request. "I think our Romeo and Juliet should have a slow-dance time!" she exclaimed happily.
I frowned. Oh man, I thought to myself. I know Gabriella won't be excited for this. I walked to her and she took my extended hand. We walked to the middle of the room and began to move to the slow-beat music. I could feel all eyes on us, but I didn't care. I was just loving the feel of her small frame in my arms.

The song ended and she lifted her head off my shoulder and smiled at me. "Thanks for dancing with me, Gabs." I whispered into her ear as I started to walk away.
"Troy!" she said, and I turned to her.
"Yeah?"
"I need to tell you something..." she trailed off. Oh, no. Here it comes. She's going to tell me that she hates me or something similar.
When you kiss me like this I think you mean it like that
"I love you." she said, looking at me straight in the eye. I stared at her, wide-eyed, mouth hanging slightly open.
"Wh-what?" I asked, dumbfounded.
"I love you, Troy. I always have. And not in the friendly way, either. I love you." she explained, laying her hand on my chest.
If you do
I smiled. "I love you, too, Gabriella, more than you'll ever know." I said, extremely happy, as we locked lips, as ourselves this time.
Baby, kiss me again
We pulled away from eachother and looked into eachother's eyes. "It's about time!" I heard from all around us. I looked around at all our friends. I looked at Sharpay, knowing what she had done. I have her a thank you-smile, knowing she was the reason why Gabi and I got the lead roles, why we're finally together now.
I looked back to my girl, my Gabriella, and smiled. She giggled, then pounced on me, pressing her lips against mine firmly in a long, passionate kiss.
Kiss me again....
